GENERAL INFORMATION ON FABRIC FINISHING CYCLES
Fabrics made with multifilament polyamide yarns, given the fineness of the filaments and the subsequent increase in the specific surface area, require special care during the finishing process.
It is important for the dyer to be aware of the characteristics of the grey fabric and above all the following parameters:
>Titre, number of yarn filaments, lustre, shape of cross-section
>Flat or twisted or texturised yarn
>Percentage of different components in the case of mixtures with other fibres (very common as these are frequently fabrics with polyamide yarn warp and weft of other natural, artificial or synthetic fibres).
The dyer must also know the requirements for the finished fabric:
>Weight per square metre
>Finished width required
>Dimensional stability
>Degrees of fastness
>Etc.
The standard finishing cycle for fabrics includes the following operations (according to end - use):
>Desizing or scouring
>(drying or pre-setting)
>(emerising)
>(pre-setting)
>bleaching or dyeing
>finishing (chemical or mechanical treatments)
